Lisa Smyrichinsky

In June of 2015 Lisa graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Science in
Kinesiology (Athletic Therapy). She then went on to certify as an Athletic Therapist and holds
the designation CAT(C).
Lisa’s passion for health and wellness developed at a young age through her involvement in
rhythmic gymnastics. After years of competing at a provincial level, she went on to become a
national level coach and judge. While completing her university degree Lisa expanded her
experience working with athletes in a variety of sports. She spent two seasons with the
University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women’s Volleyball Team and then continued on to work with
the Manitoba Soccer Association, West Kildonan Collegiate’s Football Team, and the St. Vital
Victorias MMJHL Hockey Team.
Clinically Lisa has had the opportunity to work with individuals with acute and chronic injuries
that have been acquired during physical activity, in motor vehicle collisions, and at work. A
highlight of her clinical experience was spending a summer in Calgary at the Winsport Medicine
Clinic where she assisted with injury rehabilitation of our Canadian Winter Olympic Athletes.
Lisa believes that athletic therapy is for all “athletes” of life. Athletic Therapists are specially
trained to assess the musculoskeletal system as a whole and are able to locate deficiencies that
cause pain and discomfort. Using primarily manual therapy, soft tissue work, and exercise-based
treatment athletic therapy will help get you back to your active lifestyle.

Heather Normand

Heather graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2015 with a degree in Kinesiology through the Athletic Therapy stream. During her schooling she gained knowledge working in many clinics, as well as with various sport teams including hockey, track and field, and volleyball. She became a certified Athletic Therapist in 2016. Within that year, she also completed a course to make her a certified cupping therapist. Her motto in the clinic is “Movement is Therapy” and she uses this to drive her treatments. With a specialization in muscles, bones, and joints, Heather is passionate about therapy and her role at NRG Athletes Therapy Fitness. From weekend warrior to elite athlete, acute sprains and strains to chronic aches and pains she prides herself on focusing on your goals for a rapid and safe return to work and play.

Growing up in an active and athletic household was what drove Heather to pursue her career in Athletic Therapy. Growing up playing any sport she could get her hands on, she understands the drive to be your best – and more importantly – feel your best.

In her free time, Heather still enjoys being active, especially anything that takes her outside.
